last week's left-overs

last time i wrote, i sorta had a theme--of lessons i had learned---i kinda enjoy that thought, so i will look back on last week and try to pull some insights out--

last week, i talked to a friend who has been given only a few months to live---it was a sudden diagnosis and has left my friend begging for more time---i told her, that i didn't think God would take her until she is ready---i have to admit, i partly in faith believe this, but also was trying to comfort her---i would appreciate, any of you who are prayer people to say a pray for my dear friend--

i have been seeing a lot of fire-flies this summer---i am convinced, first of all that some summers, i have not seen any of these wondrous creatures and that when i was a kid, they came in red too--

i have come to know that we can start over and over again, as long as we are willing

as i write this morning, i am cooking yellow summer squash---i now believe that frozen squash, cooked long enough and seasoned enough, is just as good as fresh and most people cannot tell the difference-did i share this before-

i have learned that the government has taken over our washing machines---there is a lot more to this discovery- i may elaborate at a later date---but this really is someone else's story----i just learned again, that else's is not a correct word-

major find----clearance garden section in walmart----i have purchased four huge peace lilies for a little over six dollars a piece----now if i can only keep them alive until robyn's wedding, in a few weeks

mostly, i tell myself to relish each moment, and mostly i fail at this lofty attempt----but still, i can try

  1. I believe in your washing machine. Space aliens from a black hole own one kitchen drawer here. Peace to your friend.

    1. it is my sister's new machine and she insists that the government is watching her and preventing her from using the amount of water she wants to--although she has circumvented it some---like i said it really isn't my story--my machine is too old ;) thanks joanne

  2. Definitely relish the moment. =) I love that insight--we can always start over. Put those two together and you've got an awesome philosophy for life, eh?

  3. I don't know about the USA but I watched a cooking program here with a top chef that advocated the use of frozen vegetables. His reasoning was that vegetables frozen fresh were often better than actual 'fresh' produce due to the length of time it takes fresh vegetables to get to the supermarket. Of course fresh local produce is the optimum and you can't beat straight out of the garden.

I will say a prayer for your friend but in the past mine have been ignored. I even died once but got rejected at both places and was sent back here.

    1. hmmm that could be the reason---i just found myself recommending frozen french toast to a fellow blogger---but although not the same principle, it is some good stuff---thank you jp----you are very special :)

    2. Lol Lynn, I've been called 'special' several times before but I don't think it was quite so complimentary.

  4. I, for one, am thankful that we can start over again and again. We all need second chances.

    I'll pray for your friend.

  5. I put your friend on our prayer chain. Im so sorry she is feeling so pressured by time. It must be hard to feel you can help in any way as well. We put the people who love and care for her on the chain too. I love the subversive washing machine idea but I alwsys thought it was the low flow shower heads and toilets that were the government stooges.

  6. Praying for your friend. For the record the doctors told my father-in-law that he had 6 months. It has been 12 years and he is still as stubborn as ever.

  7. It's a conspiracy I tell you... they have control of my toilet, too!

I miss fireflies. I had a childhood filled with them and filled with good memories. I haven't seen one in many, many years.

Prayers for your friend, Lynn. God bless her.

  14. I haven't seen fireflies since I was on night manoeuvres with the army over forty years ago.
I believe you when you say the government have taken over your washing machine. I believe I am being monitored right at this moment. That's one of the problems with the world wide web, you've a million eavesdroppers the instant you switch on. The FBI, CIA, MI5, GHQ, Interpol, Marketing agencies and the Spammers are only a small selection of who is monitoring us as soon as we switch on. Even those of us who are harmless, innocuous and just like to spread our message of happiness are targeted. If any of the above agencies are reading this, then I am blowing you a raspberry right at this moment. Ya!

    1. haha you are too funny---isn't it funny that people that thought we were all being watched by "big brother" all these years, turned out to be the sane ones ;)

  16. I hope your friend finds comfort in the time she has left. Prayers for her.

Fireflies are the official bug of summer. Nothing beats waiting until dusk and running around like a fool to see how many you can catch. That's one of my favorite parts of summer!
