after the dust of the challenge, comes may

well i will have to say, it feels a little weird, writing today---although it has only been about ten days, it seems like much longer-

the a-z challenge sorta left me tired---and i know, i didn't put into it what i did last year---so really i was dragging through it--

i guess, stress is what brought me back to the keys today---if you have followed me for a while, you may remember that may is an unusually busy month in my family and this year there are even more important dates going on---

the first part of may, marks many dates that hold a special place in my heart, followed by the dreaded "mother's day"---my birthday, robyn's, my youngest granddaughter's-my "dil" kelli's and then my son colin---not to mention memorial day, which is when we most times celebrate, colin's bday---and out of necessity we now throw in kelli's---i mean my family can't get together every weekend-----

this year, the month of may ends with robyn's graduation, and last year of dance recital---which includes many extra practices------hmmm it seems like i am forgetting something---oh yeah a prom and---big stress builder, her graduation and the first recital, all on the same day---lovely huh---at least we get it all done at once---trying to look on the bright side

and trying to remember how these days will past and the memory will be a distant blur one day---focus--breath and enjoy--right---right---

one thing you have to keep in mind about stress---they say, when your stressful thing has passed, to be aware of sickness hitting ya---that's when your stress hormones take a break and you are most vulnerable to coming down with something---just great--another thing to stress about--but that let down won't be for some time to come----wedding in august

  3. I think Mother's Day falls in May for a reason...it is one of the busiest months of the year for Mothers : ) I say take a deep breath, keep the rest of your calendar and days clear, say no to everything but the above and enjoy your family. I know it's exhausting, but you are right...these special days and events where time is marked by a moment are the things that remain in the memory of a family. I hope you feel peace in the midst of busy.

  5. Your May sounds like my October. =) Crazy busy seasons are good for us. They give us appreciation for the rest of the year. Here's hoping you survive, and here's some cheese to munch on when you're feeling especially tapped. (It's fortified with YOU-CAN-DO-IT-ness.)

  8. We celebrate EVERYTHING. So, April through August, we celebrate one birthday after another plus Mom's day, Dad's day and relatives visiting. AND it's mostly at my house. I must say I was becoming so burnt out that I started dreading it last year and saying I wouldn't do this and that. But, I've determined I will not feel the way I did last year because time is so short with family.

I know what you mean about the stress hormones and becoming sick. I'm entertaining stress right now over a family matter and I'm feeling run down.

PS I take probiotics every single day and it's not keeping me from being ill. Just saying. But, I keep taking them. :)

  10. If getting older has taught me anything, it's how to say 'no'. And how to make my peace of mind priority number 1.

  12. October is busy here. Birthdays- me, my husband, my dad, sister, two nieces, and a nephew. Oh and a FIL, but seeing as how we don't see him I don't count that so much.
    Try and relax. :)

  14. May is always busy here, too! New grand niece born this month, my daughter's birthday, husband's birthday and of course Mother's Day and Memorial Day - which is usually a family picnic of some sort. I should have taken the past 9 days off blogging too. I blogged a few days, but should have skipped it - I have other things I should have been more thorough in accomplishing. Oh, well... Glad you are back!

  19. So sorry about the stressful month, Lynn. My life has been filled with stress lately. And you are so right, when the stress goes away, the illness comes to stay. Please keep yourself as well as you can through all of this.
