is my life a metaphor for chili

told ya i would probably be blogging more after the wedding----

is chili a metaphor for my life--

it sounds good when i get up and am planning to make it----i think hey, this is gonna be spicy and different---
but alas, it is pretty edible, but does not live up to my hopes for it

did i do wrong, by omitting the orange juice or soda----would it have been a total loss without my last minute brilliance of sage-

and there it sits, left-over---how did that happen---there is never enough----does frank's unruly digestive system, explain this mind blowing occurrence--

is this all my life has become---just a big bowl of brown stuff---full of beans

i wonder

  1. Oh goodness to me even sub par chili is still good chili - I am a chili fan lol. I have never tried sage in chili...I am intrigued.

  2. Maybe you need to get out more, Lynn. If you're comparing yourself to beans. Be a Baked Alaska or something exotic, at least. . .

  3. Lynn, I will eat your leftover chili. Just let me get my teleportation device working.

What? That explosion in the background? That was nothing.

  5. If it makes you feel any better, my life as a bowl of chili wouldn't be worth eating, that's for sure!

  6. Spicy is good if that's what you're like. When I make chili at our house leftovers seldom last 24 hours so I'm not sure how that would fit into the metaphor.

  7. THIS is exactly how I feel about cooking! It looks so good in the book, I follow it exactly and either it comes out mediocre or looking so horrible bad no one will eat it.

Ironically, last week I made the simplest of recipes (chicken in the bean pot with Catalina dressing and apricot jelly) and it was DELICIOUS!!!! Except no one else would eat it becasue it was HOT PINK!

  9. I like the idea of life as a bowl full of chili. Especially if it's at least a little spicy and mostly full of flavor!

  10. All this chili got me saying chili-chili which led to me singing gilly-gilly and then I remembered the song.

  12. Sounds to me like this is the 'let-down' after a huge event. You spend so much time, care and emotional and physical energy hoping to pull it off and once it's all done, whoosh. The air gets let out and you're left comparing your excellent life to acceptable but unexceptional chili.

This too will pass, sweet Lynn. In the meantime, I've one word for you: CUMIN! :)

    1. i know you are right, and very sweet to take the time to care----i do feel a let down, even though i am mostly glad it is over---i once was going into the wedding business--so lots of this stuff was fun for me--and i am just realizing, that robyn and i can't go back and do this again---good thing is a friend has asked me to help with her wedding in the spring-----yes cumin---i love it---i think the seasoning packs had that in it but probably not enough---and i love that "acceptable but unexceptional"--gonna use that--thanks suze :)
