the purse

searching through her purse, she found it---shoot, it had melted---she pressed it into her mouth and thought about, how it's misshapen-ed  form, still tasted the same-

her life had become like this piece of candy---a little unrecognizable but sweet non the less-

was this the lesson she was to glean today---that although, we all change, there is still a deliciousness to life

no she assured herself, maybe more like---don't leave chocolate in your pocketbook--- and don't read too much into things

she reached in again to retrieve a tissue--but the damaged candy had completely changed it's use

  2. There are a couple of substitutes for tissues, but even better to be near a friend who has one.

  3. Chocolate is delicious in many forms. I am sure you found another tissue wadded up in some corner of your purse.

  5. Boy, oh boy, this sure sounds a lot like my life, except I'm thinking the chocolate may not have been that sweet at the start. Perhaps a lot more misshapen and less recognizable, but still that same hint of bitterness.

  6. I would have licked the chocolate residue from the bottom of the purse.

(This is what happens when I go off sugar...again.)

    2. I was gonna say my mother looooves her Dove bars, but actually she loves her Symphony bars.

I'm a sucker for a dish of peanut M&Ms (melts in your mouth, not in your, erm, purse.) I have the autumn colors ones now. :)

  8. Oh boy, sounds like my purse but mine is a real collection bag, crammed with all the bits of my life...a real reflection of me and if there had been a chocolate in there, the tissue would have been stuck all over it....The lady in your story had it right in the beginning, it isn't the shape of things that matter, but the way we really see it (or taste it) in the end. Like her tissue, it wasn't in the condition she wanted to find it because it had already done another job and saved the inside of the purse. xo

  9. I love it when i have to refreeze a chocolate bar, it somehow tastes twice as nice.
Reminds me, it's a couple of years since I made some Scottish Tablet. This isn't exactly my mothers recipe, but it comes close.

  10. So TRUE. "Don't read too much into things." It is what it is. Right?

  11. I never had this happen until I was a mom. I find all kinds of goop in the bottom of my purse thanks to my kids. Even the tissues are disgusting in there. I'm always cleaning the mess with another mess. Seems like another way to look at life too, I suppose.

  12. Never hid chocolate! Is that moral of your story, Lynn? :-) Not to worry, there's never any left to hid when I'm done. Great to be back after my Sept. break. See you again for more of your prose.

  14. Awesome. I'm all for the first lesson. Life is constantly reshaping, and it's up to us to find the sweetness, even if we don't quite recognize what we're becoming. Oh, and of course we have to clean up the messes along the way. :) Love it, Lynn!

    1. yes, we do have to try and clean some of those messes, crystal--but if that was my pocket book, i may just throw it away--that's why i don't like to pay too much for one :)

  15. let's see, crayons in the dryer, gum on jeans and shoes, shrunken sweaters and spilled lotion in purses. None as tasty as yours though... enjoy!
