does anyone else think this thurday feels like a monday---
i hope everyone enjoyed their 4th holiday--
we did---we actually went ahead and celebrated my husband's birthday yesterday--it was almost a week early--but hey, at his age, ya never know--jk-
we didn't do the cook-out thing--cause then it would be him cooking and what kind of break would that be--
i was going to do cold-cuts, or maybe subs and cold salads, baked beans, that kind of thing--but we settled on pizza and salad--along with a couple of trays with veggies and fruits---
we had two cakes, robyn made----i had bought frank's favorites---caramel and carrot ---tuesday night i was having some ear and teeth pain, so robyn baked the two cakes---i didn't even go in the kitchen until afterwards---and then i see one of the cake boxes in the trash---i ask---what kind of cake was that----she tells me it was cherry chip---of course i ask her why she would make that one----just a mistake, she didn't know i had carrot----i don't know how she missed that part, but she did------as a matter of fact, the cherry cake was only bought, because it was a discontinued item on sale and i thought hey we could make it sometime-----oh well, i told her it all worked out well because, now we still have the carrot cake to make on his real birthday------and besides, i had a friend and her daughter come over today and they loved the cherry cake-----they loved it so much, they wanted to know if we could make it for the baby shower, we are giving for my friend's daughter--
but i reminded them--it was a discontinued cake mix--too bad--
speaking of my friend and her daughter---i cannot believe, how stupid i was today-----okay, the daughter who is pregnant, does not want to know the sex of the baby---but the baby's dad knows and had an envelope for me--so i could know and plan the baby shower accordingly-----
well why i took the envelope and ran into the bathroom with robyn as soon as they got here today, i will never know------it occurred to me right after i looked at the piece of paper, concealed in two envelopes, that i could have looked after they left---
the whole time i was on pins and needles--afraid robyn or myself would let it slip, what the baby was------i cannot put it here as i think maybe my friend reads my blog, every once in a while-----
oh well, we made it through the visit without me divulging the sex of the baby to my friend or her daughter---my friend really wants to know------so i told her i will not be talking to her until the shower, which is like 4 or 5 weeks away---only on facebook haha
gotta go----:)
I don't know how in the world you kept that secret! I'm not sure I would have been able to! And, in my effort to keep it, it would have just slid right out of my face. LOL Happy Birthday early to your hubby!
ReplyDeletei don't think i gave it away--although my friend was trying to trip me up in every way she could think of haha thanks pam! :)
DeleteGreat title -- and a lot of tension with knowledge of the gender! :D
ReplyDeletehaha, i guess, i was a little misleading with my title----yep a lot of tension--i am waiting for the phone to ring any minute, and it will be my friend! thanks suze :)
DeleteWe didn't have those options when I was pregnant... only guesses. I don't think I could have stood not knowing, if I could have!
ReplyDeletei know---i found out with 3 of my 8--thanks ms. a :)
DeleteLove the title! Glad your husband had a fun early birthday celebration! I would have such a tough time keeping that secret too! Good luck! P.S. Hope you feel better. Julie
ReplyDeletethanks julie--i am feeling better---i know--i am hoping i can do it---yeah, i wonder if this title will get more readers, haha, i just couldn't resist! thanks again julie :)
DeleteYour 4th sounds like it was fun. My husband and I avoided all the festivities and spent the day at home in delicious peace and quiet. Because of wildfire danger, fireworks were banned this year in many parts of Colorado including our town. I didn't the miss the noise one bit. :D
ReplyDeletei have been thinking of your part of the country and praying things get a lot better----i know i think i am getting too old for all of that stuff--i went with everyone last night to see the fireworks, which i used to love--but now i think i would be just as content to watch them on tv! thanks patricia:)
DeleteI hope you're able to keep the secret. My cousin and his wife had a bet going: He knew the sex of their baby, but she didn't. His job was not to spill the beans to her. He actually managed to do just that, but somehow all of the rest of us found out....from him. LOL
ReplyDeletei told my friend, if i make the mistake of telling my husband what the baby is and he runs into them somewhere--we are sunk---it's not they he can't keep a secret--it's just that he never remembers what is a secret!!--thanks libby :)
DeleteOh my, you are a brave girl...There is no way I could trust myself to not let it slip, my mouth Never behaves, ha! xo
ReplyDeletehaha--i told my friend's daughter not to count on it not coming out before the shower--i will try my best--but my friend (her mom) has a lot of dirt on me ;)--thanks sherri!
DeleteI don't like holding secrets for the same reason you were on pins and needles--too much pressure. I usually tell people not to share anything with me that they want kept quiet. : )
ReplyDeletehaha that is what i told her--but i guess she has faith in me---i hope i don't let it slip! thanks cynthia:)
DeleteNot one little pop or bang did we hear. I am proud of all of our neighbors and town that they followed the ban of no fireworks here and in much of the rest of Colorado. Glad you had a good 4th. Secrets. . .another idea for a story, Lynn!
ReplyDeletewe had a lot of noise but at least it didn't go on too late----i have been thinking of everyone there--my aunt and lots of cousins live near denver---you are so right, secrets make great books--thanks:)
DeleteMaybe you could find a cherry chip cake mix that is a different brand.
ReplyDeleteIf you plan the baby shower according to the sex won't she figure it out?
i might have to look since they liked it so much--but i'm not sure if we are going to bake the cake or not--and yeah she wants me to announce the baby's sex at the shower--haha it's a new one on me---thanks ruth :)
DeleteThat is cute that your friend doesn't want to know what the sex of her baby is but still wants people to kind of tell her; I'm sure she'll find out at the shower since her husband passed that info to you? That cherry chip cake does sound interesting; I'll have to see if our store carries it. Sounds all in all it was a nice Fourth!
ReplyDeletebetty
well it's my friend who wants to know and her daughter that wants to find out at the baby shower--yeah i was surprised how much everyone liked the cherry cake---thanks betty :)
DeleteOh my goodness! That must have been a very hard secret to keep! Well done, you!
ReplyDeleteAs for cake: I always make cakes from scratch. Easy to make and I can use some of my favorite ingredients then. I love to add apple and spices :D
it is going to be extremely hard! you know, i hardly ever make one from scratch--now i do add stuff to the mixes sometimes! haha thanks sylvia :)
DeleteGet a cherry cake mix and add chocolate chips! Now, about that title...
ReplyDeletehaha--it didn't have chocolate but good idea---hey promotion ;)--thanks donna :)
Deletehaha,,that was funny about you and Robyn running to the bathroom to open the envelope. yum yum.. just got hungry after reading about the cherry cake. :)
ReplyDeleteHappy Friday!
i know--what was i thinking haha----it was pretty yummy! thanks cecilia :)
DeleteThat is a hard secret to keep!
ReplyDeletehaha you know it!! thanks monica :)
Deletehope you guys had an amazing Fourth, and happy birthday to your husband!! :)

jasmine
AdamAlexMommy
we did and thanks so much--hope you enjoy your weekend, jasmine :)
DeleteSounds like you had a great 4th Holiday and I agree this week seems confusing because we were off Wednesday and yesterday felt like a blah Monday. LOL on revealing the envelope. I like the suspense. :)
ReplyDeletei know--i am still confused on the day! yep it is a suspense, to see if robyn and i can keep this secret! thanks :)
Deletemy husband never wanted to know the sex of our babies...he had no choice though, because I always wanted to know....
ReplyDeletehaha---i found out with 3 of my 8---thanks annmarie!
DeleteI would not want to know the sex of my impending baby either, I just think it is something to look forward too and then on birthday finding out. I'm glad it all worked out without leaks.
ReplyDeletei know what ya mean--i only found out with a few of my babies---and i haven't made it yet without leaks--the shower is in august! thanks anthony :)
DeleteI like happy surprises and we were going to wait, but I could see the sex of my baby when I was pregnant because he flashed us every time we did a scan! It was VERY obvious! *LOL* Have a great weekend.
ReplyDeletehaha yep, me too with one of my boys--the only boy i knew ahead of time---you won't believe it but the ultrasound tech. said he was playing with his buddy! thanks christine :)
DeleteI am awful at secrets! I have almost slipped on the baby"s name many times!
ReplyDeletehaha well i am thinking i am not gonna be too good on this one, if my friend keeps calling me and trying to trick me into telling her haha---thanks brownie :)
DeleteOne time my sister's ex hubby, then fiancé told me he was going to propose two months before it happened. I was dying! So I told the whole world, except my sister. And I made them promise not to leak it to her. I have no idea how she didn't know. I was sure even the president knew!
DeleteI hope the birthday party was awesome! Like you, I HAVE to KNOW right NOW! I am good at keeping secrets, though.
ReplyDeleteit was pretty fun---haha i am good at keeping some kind--like maybe the bad kind! thanks susan :)
DeleteWhat a day! Happy early birthday to your husband. :) and good luck with planning baby shower! :)
ReplyDeletethanks on both accounts marina :)
Deleteyou are welcome...:)
DeleteHoping when you dropped by that you picked up the sun shiny award. :)
ReplyDeleteoh okay thanks :)
DeleteThat's a long time to keep a secret...good luck! LOL
ReplyDeletehaha yeah i am going to need luck!! thanks marie :)
DeleteHappy birthday to your husband. I can't imagine trying to keep a secret like that. Good luck to you!
ReplyDeletehaha i know i can't either--and thanks danielle, i will tell frank :)
DeleteI am like you, I hate being given secrets to keep ! oh wow it is extreme not seeing your poor friend till the shower... still, it's the only thing.
ReplyDeletei was only kidding about that part--but it will be hard, and she is already calling to pump me for hints! thanks jenny :)
Deletehehe yeah I'd be afraid of divulging the secret early too. Not an easy one to keep.
ReplyDeleteyou are so right--my friend (the mother of the mom to be) is already trying to trip me up!! thanks lynda :)
DeleteGreat news on the baby. I will keep a secret forever unless it slips out. NOT MY FAULT. It's too much pressure.
ReplyDeletehaha yep that's how mine usually get out--not intentionally! thanks teresa :)
