"love don't buy no tires"--the post- not the book

"love don't buy no tires"---this is the title to one of the books i think i have mentioned before, my friend susan and i have been saying forever that we are going to co-author this best seller!

today, i was reminded of this yet to be masterpiece----

robyn and i had gone to buy some needed items, when my hawk-eye discovered a nail or screw in my front driver side tire-----"i told you frank, that i thought that tire was a little low!!"--we darted in the store for a couple of minutes, didn't purchase anything, and drove back home--relieved when we arrived in our driveway, with air to spare------tires freak me out---

i wish they could make a tire that does not ever go low or cannot ever give you a problem no matter what the tire may pick up-----they probably do make something like that---but i mean an affordable one for the general public---

shoot for that matter, i would be happy if i could buy all matching tires or even one new tire, instead of the used ones we always have to get-----

i thought at first i would complain today about our lack of money--but then i thought many things--
1-no one wants to hear that
2-no one cares
3-it makes me look bad
4-everyone will know i am not rich
5-people will think i am a loser
6-i want people to think money is not important to me
and the list goes on-----

but here i am kinda complaining huh------i do want ya to know, that i wake up every morning, thankful and understanding, whether i live or die, i do it unto the Lord----

i am a cock-eyed-optimist----and an eternal dreamer------i seriously know how blessed i am------

but i still want all new tires---

you know, sometimes when i hear people say--"hey i still have some tread on some of my tires, maybe you could use one of them"------do what---you mean people get all new tires even when they don't have to----i say "oh thanks but that isn't the size we have"-----

it's like my dad a couple of years ago, put on a new roof---i personally think he was taken-----his roof didn't leak, it was fine----so why do people get new roofs before they need them-----i guess to make sure they never get any surprise leaks-------i mean my dad is 87 years old----ya get my point---his money, not mine----oh and hey i am not trying to pick on my dad--just making my sad points haha

i am sure there are people in india and right here in the good old usa that would question why i spent money the way i do-----"it's all relative"----(i just made that up :)

  1. Everyone is allowed an occasional rant. So, when is this book coming out??

IMO, Love is a better priority to have than money. Money can't buy love, the Beatles song said so. I just remember my bohemian beginnings.

  2. I think now and then we need to get some stuff off our chests and a blog is a place to do that. As long as its not the overall tone then I think you're safe to rant a little now and then. I always say our problems are our problems and knowing other people have worse problems doesn't mean you don't still have a problem. Does that make sense?

  3. I can totally relate to this post. For one thing I've wished there was an alternative to the way they make tires. With our technology I'm sure there's an answer, but then they wouldn't sell as many tires would they.
Since I've been unemployed I've taken frugality to a new level. My wife has been very patient about being the sole breadwinner for the past couple years. I hope I can remedy that soon.

  4. Rant away! We don't mind. :) I've been wanting to rant on about this year being the year everything is breaking down. First our car and now our air-conditioning/heat unit. Not cheap at all, and we're a one-income family. Sometimes I'm surprised how families manage to have all the things they do. Then I remind myself I'm blessed to have a happy and healthy husband and son, and we have a cozy little house.

    1. i know---we have always been a one income family too-and it's been darn hard----and i too am very thankful--but when stuff breaks, we just have to wait or do something a little creative haha--we went without our heat pump for years--people would say, "hey you know you are not saving money by using your emergency heat in the winter"--they just couldn't get the fact that sometimes you can manage (barely) a higher power bill for a couple of months but not a 5 to 8 thousand out lay for a new heat pump--we just recently had an old heat pump hooked up by a friend and my son---so happy it worked--i hope you can manage to get yours fixed really soon---thanks for the ranting pass, christine :)

  6. I appreciate what I have also, but almost all of us could use more money. I would love to fix things 'before' they become a problem. Hope you find a good tire deal. They're not cheap.

    1. me too susan---but sometimes it's hard to know if something will ever pose a problem haha--ended up plugging the tire--now i am kinda freaked out although we have had that done before--thanks susan :)

  7. I know that they say 'more money, more problems' but I certainly would be happy to test that theory out! Rant all you want--you are among friends, after all. I would never judge a person for wanting new tires!!

  8. We just bought new tires in December (all four). Apparently, on an all-wheel-drive vehicle, you can't just buy one. Then, a week after getting those beauties, I ran into the rock work alongside our house and slashed one of them. Luckily, they were under warranty.
I hate buying new tires, but love having them.

  9. Oh i totally understand the tire thing. My back passenger tire gets low every two weeks or so and I keep looking at my hubby saying lets replace it. But we never have the money to spend on a tire that isn't flat yet. Oh but to dream though!

  10. I so totally hear ya on the money thing. It's not a complaint really on my end either... it's just that it all seems to be going out in rapid pace this summer and I'll be damned if I can catch any of it.

Don't get me wrong, it could be way worse. But all I'd like is a new pair of sneakers and sadly I can't eve justify that right now. The end of the month, yes. Today, no.

I did however justify a new bag of M&Ms....

    1. haha i hope you get your sneakers and everything else your heart desires--right now those m&ms sound pretty good to me--thanks juli :)

  11. Hi Lynn,

Such a pain with the flat tyre and I can totally relate to this. Funny how over here in NZ we spell our tires/tyres different to you.
Hope you have a good week

  14. My financial situation for the past two years has been dire. I closed my business interests and have since had to swallow pride and look to be employed by someone else. I didn't envisage the problems I would have even in the current economic crisis.

There seemed to be no way out and it is only recently things have begun to pick up. I'm not out of the woods by any means but everything is for a reason. If I hadn't found myself with time on my hands I would never have taken to writing. There could be some good come of the hardship yet,

  16. Any type of car problems freak me out, and they are always so expensive. I've learned to say "its only money" as we "shell" out repairs for son's Cadillac. Thankfully I think we've repaired everything at least once, most things twice so I think we are "good to go" for a bit (except I'm sure he'll need tires). Hubby is real good about knowing how long to drive on the tires before they get "too dangerous" and I'm always glad I don't do a lot of driving.

New roofs can be expensive (just had one put on this past spring, but husband's parents' estate kind of paid for it - all legitimate - so it didn't per se come out of our pocket. The roof is good for 25 yeras......I'm hoping Jesus comes back in that time or we sell the house or I've gone home.....

it is hard when there are so many needs and not enough money to make all those needs; I do understand indeed!

    1. haha i know the feeling---we have had those kind of cars too--you think you have just about made the car over, huh----i hear ya---Jesus would have to come back and hand me the money for a new roof---it's not leaking or anything right now :)---thanks always betty :)

  22. What a great post! We just purchased new tires for my suv. I was freaking out! Hubby says we got a great deal and I say we're about to be out $900 bucks! I'm very frugal! I try to save, recycle and anything and everything! LOL I just bought my son Sperrys for $75 and hubby nice new leather loafers at Goodwill for $6.99! Spending money stresses me and our son just turned sixteen and he got a decent car, so you know I'm eating a lot of chocolate this week! :)
