today i would like to share some don'ts i have learned along life's journey---their order does not reflect on their importance:
1. don't always wait until asked
2. don't drink pickle juice
3. don't ask children, if this dress makes me look fat
4. don't go in a dressing room with a big straw hat with lovely flowers, until you are sure it is not a wall decoration
5. don't worry about keeping your enemies close--some of your friends will take care of this
6. don't worry too much about much of anything--most of it never happens and the bad stuff that does, is much worse than anything you had ever worried about anyway
7. don't use pyrex
8. don't make deviled eggs--especially when you are tired
9. don't threaten to walk out as, let's say a director of a play--unless you are closest to the door
10. don't take yourself too seriously, no one else does
My personal 'don't' is: don't think you are the most important person in the room. you're not.
ReplyDeletehaha i have never had this problem---but it's a good one denise!
DeleteMine is dont waste time arguing. They are not listening to you they're thinking of the next thing they want to say.
ReplyDeletehaha that is soooo true zoe!!!!
DeleteI laughed at some of these, particularly the pickle juice and I think it is ill-advised asking children anything unless you are prepared for blunt honesty. I don't know what the problem with pyrex is though.
ReplyDeletei have had trouble with pyrex, exploding and or breaking--of course, i must add, i was probably not used them the proper way--but that was my point---i can't have anything that you cook with, this temperamental--haha thanks jp :)
DeleteYou've got me rolling! I LOVE your 'don't' list!
ReplyDeletehaha, well then i have done my job thanks ;)
Deleteyes! I DO Enjoy this post.
ReplyDeleteHappy "D" Day.
-g-
haha thanks maggid :)
Deletealso don't drink baby's formula or pedialyte to see what it tastes like.
ReplyDeletegreat list, Lynn.
haha oh yeah---thanks teresa :)
DeleteExcellent post as usual! Love the "don't ask a child if a dress makes you looks fat..."
ReplyDeletehaha yep, you might just find out way too much--thanks!
DeleteI had to laugh at the third one. I've done that, and you're absolutely right!
ReplyDeleteThere's a lot of wisdom in your last one. Love this post!
haha yeah i try not to ask anyone that ? really---thanks dana :)
DeleteOh my, I can relate to most of these..except the Pyrex, I wondered what the deal was with that but see that you have answered. #3, I have learned not to ask children a lot of things, I learned the hard way!! xo
ReplyDeletehaha i know sherri, haven't we all--and the pyrex, i have learned the hard way ;)
ReplyDeleteHi Lynn--a great list; I wonder what the back story is for some of those don'ts! Probably the most important don't I learned from my dad was "don't issue an ultimatum unless you're prepared to go through with it." Good to see you on the Challenge again this year! 8-)
ReplyDeleteyour dad was so right, that's kinda where i was going with #9--thanks dot!
DeleteWonderful list! I nodded and laughed.
ReplyDeletehaha, i am glad christine ;)
DeleteMmmm...deviled eggs. Can they ever be that bad?
ReplyDeleteno i love them--i just said not to make them----haha joy ;)
DeleteAre you speaking from experience with all of these?? ;)
ReplyDeleteI couldn't even tell you which one I like best--they're all great.
Barbara
D is for: Deadlines
The Daille-y News
yes barbara--haha thanks so much!
DeleteBest list EVER!!!!!!
ReplyDeletewow!!! thanks kate :)
DeleteDon't ask why, just 'don't'! Excellent collection of Don'ts, Lynn.
ReplyDeleteBut, did you try to drink pickle juice? I know dill is supposed to be good for settling the tummy, but pickle juice?
I forgot this: About the pyrex - it should always be 25 degrees less than recipes call for. That may have been the problem. . .
Deletehaha that is the problem--but some ovens if they are not calibrated right, will burst them before ya know it :)
DeleteGreat list of don't! #5, oh so true. Family can be put there right next to the friends also.
ReplyDeleteI guess I don't use Pyrex enough to have ever had a problem with it. Please, fill me in!
no it's just that you have to be so careful with it--you can't cook on higher temps with it--and once i had a cake pyrex pan explode, but that was because we put it to rest on a top burner, that we had forgotten to turn off--it probably wouldn't have happened with other types of pans--but no one was hurt--thanks theresa :)
DeleteThese are rules to live by for sure :) especially not taking ourselves too seriously!
ReplyDeletehaha these are just a few of my pearls of wisdom haha thanks!
DeleteI love this list! My favorite is "don't ask children if this dress makes me look fat."
ReplyDeleteJulie
haha, i am glad you enjoyed this! thanks julie :)
DeleteDon't drink pickle juice??
ReplyDeleteDon't drink pickle juice??
ReplyDeletehaha yeah i really wouldn't try it susan :)
ReplyDeleteHa-I just read some do's for empty nesters over at Pam's blog (Empty Nest)...your list has me thinking. I might jot this down as something to revisit on my own blog once I cross the A-Z finish line.
ReplyDeletehaha okay thanks joyce!:)
DeleteGreat don'ts Lynn. Another one: Don't ask "Does this dress make me look fat?" (If you have to ask. . . . )
ReplyDeletehaha exactly :)
DeleteWhat's wrong with Pyrex?
ReplyDeleteif you remember not to use it at too higher temp. but i never could :)
DeleteAll very good except the pyrex one. Lost me on that one.
ReplyDeleteI love pickle juice. It's great in bloddy mary's and also when there is nothing left to eat in the house!
The High Cost of this Low Living
yeah maybe pickle juice is okay in another food or drink but not alone, at least not for my system haha----pyrex--the exploding factor :)
DeleteI don't like Pyrex! Think I offended a woman in Tesco as they were running a promotion and she asked me if I wanted a token, 'not likely,' i said.
ReplyDeletehaha yay--someone gets it!! thanks maria ;)
DeleteThese are great! Really gave me a chuckle, especially #3.
ReplyDeletehaha i am glad they gave ya a laugh--thanks karen :)
DeleteGreat advise, all of them but #3 was my fave!
ReplyDeletehaha, seems to be the consensus georgina ;)
DeleteWait, don't drink pickle juice? I agree with all the others.
ReplyDeletewell the one time i did--i was very sick--haven't forgotten it--so i feel i should share this haha!
DeleteWhat's wrong with pickle juice?
ReplyDeleteomgosh--haha, why is everyone assuming i was serious about the pickle juice, i was but i find it hilarious, how along with the pyrex, people have asked about the pickle juice---as i don't want you to try it, you only will have to trust me--it makes you wanna die :)
DeleteEnjoyed the laugh. Great idea. I'm racking my brain for 'E'. You've certainly put a smile on my face tonight. I've had a long day, and every muscle aches, but I accomplished much, so that's a good thing.
ReplyDeleteThanks again, I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Hugs,
Kathy
