don't

today i would like to share some don'ts i have learned along life's journey---their order does not reflect on their importance:

1. don't always wait until asked
2. don't drink pickle juice
3. don't ask children, if this dress makes me look fat
4. don't go in a dressing room with a big straw hat with lovely flowers, until you are sure it is not a wall decoration
5. don't worry about keeping your enemies close--some of your friends will take care of this
6. don't worry too much about much of anything--most of it never happens and the bad stuff that does, is much worse than anything you had ever worried about anyway
7. don't use pyrex
8. don't make deviled eggs--especially when you are tired
9. don't threaten to walk out as, let's say a director of a play--unless you are closest to the door
10. don't take yourself too seriously, no one else does

  1. My personal 'don't' is: don't think you are the most important person in the room. you're not.

  2. Mine is dont waste time arguing. They are not listening to you they're thinking of the next thing they want to say.

  3. I laughed at some of these, particularly the pickle juice and I think it is ill-advised asking children anything unless you are prepared for blunt honesty. I don't know what the problem with pyrex is though.

    1. i have had trouble with pyrex, exploding and or breaking--of course, i must add, i was probably not used them the proper way--but that was my point---i can't have anything that you cook with, this temperamental--haha thanks jp :)

  11. Hi Lynn--a great list; I wonder what the back story is for some of those don'ts! Probably the most important don't I learned from my dad was "don't issue an ultimatum unless you're prepared to go through with it." Good to see you on the Challenge again this year! 8-)

  15. Don't ask why, just 'don't'! Excellent collection of Don'ts, Lynn.

But, did you try to drink pickle juice? I know dill is supposed to be good for settling the tummy, but pickle juice?

    1. I forgot this: About the pyrex - it should always be 25 degrees less than recipes call for. That may have been the problem. . .

    2. haha that is the problem--but some ovens if they are not calibrated right, will burst them before ya know it :)

  16. Great list of don't! #5, oh so true. Family can be put there right next to the friends also.

I guess I don't use Pyrex enough to have ever had a problem with it. Please, fill me in!

    1. no it's just that you have to be so careful with it--you can't cook on higher temps with it--and once i had a cake pyrex pan explode, but that was because we put it to rest on a top burner, that we had forgotten to turn off--it probably wouldn't have happened with other types of pans--but no one was hurt--thanks theresa :)

  24. I don't like Pyrex! Think I offended a woman in Tesco as they were running a promotion and she asked me if I wanted a token, 'not likely,' i said.
