h-Heaven

yesterday at church my Sunday school class was discussing Heaven----

first let me tell you a little bit about our rather unique class------we are called "the jars of clay"-----some people like to refer to us as "the jaws of clay"--truly-----the majority of the class consists of people that were in the original class of some 30 years ago, called "the fellowship class"-----i still have the little sign from that class--

our teacher is well let's say "one of a kind"---one of my best friends----he usually strolls in the class, tie undone and perching himself on a table begins--his way is very unorthodox but always informative and he especially loves the Lord---he probably has more faith than anyone i know---he wasn't there yesterday-----so the class started with somewhat of a funny quandary---my husband frank and another long time member, who just happens to be my very first boyfriend--had both been asked by the teacher to teach----frank decided to let----(don't want to name people that don't know i am writing about them)----"jim" teach--

jim had a wonderful lesson for Easter Sunday--"Jesus last words"------during the teaching, someone brought up Heaven----i will share some of the questions we had and thoughts--

we all agreed that since there are people we don't care for too much here on earth and truly don't even think we could stand being in the car for any length of time with --that Heaven must be extremely large, giving one the impression, you could go all of eternity and not run into some people--

one person said, they thought the Bible said something about, we being able to know the mysteries of the universe--that sounded pretty awesome to me--although i think once we are there, everything will become clear like in an instant---maybe he meant we could float around in space--

someone said although we would know one another in Heaven, he didn't think it would be like we knew them as our husband or child per say----that part was sad for me, if true

i didn't share this with them yesterday, but i have this thing i believe---i think that all of the good experiences we have had here on earth, can be relived if we choose-----otherwise, i wonder where they went--especially if my theory of past present and future is correct---you will know about that said theory, if you read my "f" post--

i am sure there were more ideas thrown around yesterday, but can't think of them now-----just sharing on this "h" day a little glimpse, not really of Heaven, but our completely authentic charming, always challenging class--

  1. Does sound like a great class and its neat that people have been together like that for so many years!! (we've moved a lot so we've been in a variety of churches and small groups, etc).

Interesting discussion about heaven. I do believe it will be beyond our wildest imagination and words can't describe how wonderful it will be. My best part when I think of heaven is no more tears and no more suffering and that we won't need the sun or the moon for light because Jesus' face will be light enough. I look forward to that day :)

  3. Heaven is something that has intrigued me. I think it's more of a state of being - one of peace and love. I guess we'll all find out what it is eventually!

  8. Nice posting and I remember many years ago when I lost a beloved pet someone shared the Rainbow Bridge story with me. Immediately after reading it, I knew instantly when I die that is where I want to be on that side of Heaven.

  10. All I know is that Heaven is far more than I can comprehend with my human mind, but will be far better than I can comprehend also. To stand before pure Truth! Amazing!

  13. I was just thinking myself that Heaven must be awfully large to hold so many people, but that hot place must be too. Course you know everyone isn't going upstairs.

    1. i know---but you know, a God that can do everything and anything He chooses, could change his mind at any time---something i pray will happen at the end--not to give any impression that i do not believe in every word of the bible or think it is not all important to share the good news---thanks for commenting ruth!

  14. very interesting Lynn, I have visions and ideals of what I think Heaven will be like at points of my days, weeks, months...just drifitng, I suppose. I think Heaven is a wonderfully gorgeous place where we do have the opportunity to meet up with our loved ones and make things right with others. I also think we have the freedom to protect our loved ones here on Earth...just some of my ideas...great H word...

  16. Funny, our pastor talked about Paradise. I love reading the verse where Jesus tells one of the thieves, Today you will be with me in Paradise. (Luke 23?) For some reason reading the verse makes me "feel" paradise. I know that sounds wierd.

  20. Great post Lynn, it's funny but I was just watching a show about religion and it talked of one theory that said the world we perceive is like a 2 dimensional image, that heaven was the unseen depth of our existence, there if only we could see it. Really makes you wonder.

  22. So, if we will "know" people when we get to heaven, but not the same way we know them here on earth, maybe it won't be so bad bumping into those "undesirables" in the after-life? Now I have something more to think about for the evening.... LOL

  23. I think Dawn has a point. I was thinking the same thing. Lol! Interesting question. I think we all have our own version of heaven or what we think is heaven. :)

  25. Great post! I think that just as God is all things to all people, heaven will be the same. Maybe we all become children again. All I know is that it will be heaven!

  31. I believe that God has it all figured out and we're not to worry about it one bit. We will have clarity and peace and finally feel truly connected to one another and the Holy Spirit.

  32. Great post! My brain gets frazzled trying to imagine or understand things like Heaven. Sunday at church, our pastor reminded us that after Jesus rose again, he went on teaching for 40 some days or something. I knew this, but has completely forgot. His point was that we often think about Jesus dying, being raised from the dead, and then ascending to the right side of God; almost like it was all in just those 3 days. However, he continued to teach, love, and share for 40 more days and give us last minute lessons. I don't really have a point to this, just that I had forgot and it was nice to remember.
