i have this zebra picture—my son
colin made it, he was around 8 i think when he drew it----it is a
zebra standing in dirt---the caption that my son gave it reads “this
is how the zebra got it's stripes “---it was shown along with a
little animal my other son, dustin made in the school art fair----i
still have both of them---
the crazy thing is, do you know, i have
been saying for over twenty years--”you know we ought to frame this
and hang it on the wall”---
now we have several of his photography
pictures framed—oh yeah, he gave them to me that way—but we have
them displayed---as a matter of fact since there are more than one—my
daughter jokingly calls it “the wall of colin”--
i am very conscious of not showing any
favoritism—and i do not have any----but i don't know why i have not
framed that adorable zebra picture----
now i know we can't show all of our
kids masterpieces---but i do have a few from each one----
i have even talked my two
daughter-in-laws into painting pictures, that we proudly hang ----
life is too short, so i am going to
hang that zebra picture and maybe i will have to look for a couple
more of dustin's things, just to even it up---
yay
zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz----- the
end-- it's been real!
i thought i would end this a-z
challenge by sharing a few pictures of my world—i hope to stay in
touch with you all—and a heartfelt thank you to all of you for your
wonderful posts i have come to look forward to and the wonderfully
encouraging comments you have so graciously given—until next
time—love and blessings and happy writing <3
I love the zebra picture! It's so nice that you frame your kids' art. I need to to that. Right now, so many pieces are stuffed in a big art folder.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing the pictures of your family, and congratulations on finishing the challenge!
oh this is only a small sampling--i am like you--most of it is packed away---i am glad you liked my little zebra pic---thanks and a big congrats to you too--hope we will keep in touch!
DeleteHi Lynn: I think all the Zebra people should blog each other. I have a Zebra too. But your son's Zebra is wonderful. Does he like to draw and paint still? Children's art is special, imaginative and none of the inner critic that we have.
ReplyDeletehe doesn't do much of it any longer--i wish he would--but he does do his photography, which is very good----we are going to have a lot of zebras today, huh---thanks!
DeleteHi Lynn,
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely priceless!!!! Thanks for reminding me that I need to do that - like Sherry, most of my kid's art is put away.
You've been so great on commenting everyday! - you are truly one to look up to! Thank you for that!

DeleteVery nice end to the challenge! Enjoyed all the pictures; creativity there and beautiful family you have! How cute too that you saved a drawing all those years (thinking here, have I saved anything? I'm sure I have....) That would be cool to have it frame :)
ReplyDeleteam looking forward to keeping up with you too; now that we are done with this challenge I'll go back to my usual one or two times a week posting if that :)

Deletewhat a wonderful zebra pic! My older one did one of a giraffe and I did frame that. Children's drawings are so expressive and most intuitive and unselfconscious. So sad that we all have to outgrow that.

DeleteAwesome pictures. You have a beautiful family. Congrats on reaching the end of the challenge.

DeleteI still have many of the little treasures my son made or gave me as he was growing up. They are scattered throughout my office and the kitchen so I can see them everyday. Most are handmade, but one is a tacky fake potted daisy, but that flower means the world to me.
ReplyDeleteWhen he was in kindergarten, my son earned points for good grades and behavior. These points could be traded in for treats & goodies every so often. But my son saved all his points and traded them for this silly flower so he could give it to me as a gift. It touched my heart in unimaginable ways. Even though it's pretty ugly, I keep it on the kitchen counter and look at it many times a day.
My son is 17 now and leaving for college in 3-1/2 months. I will cherish that daisy forever and it will remain on my counter for just as long.
awwww my baby will be 17 on may the 17th--her golden---nice meeting you--hope to keep up---congrats!!

DeleteI have two shelves in my writing room filled with projects and crafts my kids made. I have four of some things because their art teachers had them make the same thing as their older siblings. They loved that I saved them but I assure you, none of them will ever make their way in the world as artists.
