reality-- r

the strains of his reality beckoned to her—she wanted to know it, but she would never--

he held her emotions at bay, saying she could not be trusted with his reasoning or his visions--

she knew this part was truth---his reality was fleeting, vanishing---unruly---messy-

the whispers of solitude, haunted her mind and she cringed as she supposed his hell

but she dare not venture too far in step---or hold his gaze one second longer--

when had this happened, what irony this had become---her reality, now out of the shadows--

his untouched by the sanity of filters--

she kissed his cold forehead as she abandoned him to save her reality-

  1. This is great; I had to read it several times but I could see how she would have to abandon him to save her reality; I think we all need to do that sometimes with relationships or things in our lives. Very nicely done :)

Friday! Getting close to this challenge being done too; its been quite an adventure!

  3. Wow, this gave me goosebumps, for some reason. Probably from the sense of urgency I get from this piece, and the dire decision she makes. Very well done!

  7. This is sad! So, if I'm reading it correctly, his reality is different to hers so she has to leave him :-( You know, working on the internet so much means that I'm not sure what my reality is! Great post!

  8. Nice posting today. I have often made the statement, Just wait until reality hits and often, it is just as you have described it with your character in this story.

  10. Your story captures a deep sadness at not being able to connect--the human condition. I suppose that's why so many of us like to write. We hope to share our reality with others. Lovely R post, Lynn.

  11. Very nice post. Sometimes the reality of relationships is that they just don't work. It's tough to know when to let go.

  15. Yes, sometimes we must leave behind the past , and the people who inhabit it, so that we may live in the present.

  16. Being real hurts sometimes, but it's better than living in fantasy. Real life eventually comes to the surface for us to face.

  17. I thought she was saying goodbye to letting his reality have control over her or her emotions and to him because he was dead. But a lot of times stuff goes over my head or I read too much into it. Regardless, I like the way you write. It's thought provoking.

  18. it's so nice to see someone take an interest in what a person means when they write-- and although i did have something in mind i think the poem should be whatever someone takes from it-- thanks so much for reading:)

  24. Looking after the Self, I call it. Recognizing when the effort doesn't equal the reward.

The last bit made me think of death, kissing a cold forehead, caskets, etc.

  33. Oh what a snippet, Lynn! After reading this, it reminded me (sort of)my clients. I work as an assistant nurse and help the aged in their homes. It's not easy to see them slip away from reality. Must be difficult for this character.
