the third floor

for most of my adult life, i have had this reoccurring dream about a third floor---

it starts, with a massive old house -most of the time i live there but someone else really owns, it—or the paper work never was filed—something in the dream, always leaves me with the impression, that i could lose the house, if the true owner decided he wanted it back---

not every time i dream this dream, do i go to the third floor---but i always know it is there---when i think of the third floor, i am terrified inside, but am not afraid to live in the house-

i remember once in the dream i entered the third floor—it had huge halls, with dark patterned carpet, mostly shades of maroon---i walk along the floor, which seems to be a little off center—there i notice two large connecting doors, kinda like in an old theater---this one time the doors flung open and i could see what was in there---

i don't know what i saw, but i know it frightened me and thrilled me at the same time----it was like at that moment, i had discovered the mysteries of life---

shortly after my mother died, a few months ago, i was relating this dream to several of my family members---as i started to tell this dream about the third floor, my aunt stops me and says “oh no not the dreaded third floor dream”--seems she has had this dream all of her life also---my daughter looked it up and some people say that the third floor dream, means you may have premonitions or some sort of physic abilities--

the last time i had the dream---i was driving past the house with a friend and she points the house out to me---i tell her, i would rather not go in today---

  1. Wow. I had never before heard of a third floor dream. Sounds scary though! Have you ever had any premontions or evidence of psychic abilities?

  2. some--a few dreams--when i was younger--i would tend to have dreams that had nothing to do with me and the next day or so i would hear of my dream--how it happened somewhere in the world---and a few other things here and there--thanks sherry :)

  5. I would have perhaps interpreted the dream a little differently. I would suggest the fear of the third floor is the fear of the unknown.

The abilities need not be psychic because it could refer to any ability. Everybody has psychic ability, it's quite natural. It could be that you have some talent which could take you to another level yet you are afraid to use but the prospect excites you.

When interpreting dreams, tarot cards, or life, you have to often look outside the box. It is strange how many unfathomable events make perfect sense after the fact.

  7. I have a recurring dream about a huge house too- and it has 3 or 4 floors. I know that I go to each floor and see different things but the thing that scares me about the whole thing is the HUGE, STEEP staircase. The steps are covered with burgundy carpet. Anyway, I'm just glad I no longer have the recurring dream of my childhood. About the witch. YIKES!

    1. yeah, i wouldn't want to have a witch that kept appearing---your old house maybe bought the carpet from the same place as mine--thanks ;)

  8. Very interesting; especially since you had another family member that a similar dream. I truly don't know about dreams; what to interpret about them or not to interpret about them. I know God did talk to people in dreams, the Bible has recorded stories of them, but I just don't know what to make of them. It is all interesting though!!

Thanks for sharing! Also - seems like you have some serious stuff going on in your off-blog life, and I wanted you to know I am holding you close in thought and prayer. Best wishes with it all. :)

  17. The only reoccurring dream I ever have is where I'm walking around in public with my saggy, bare breasts exposed. I'm pretty sure it just means I hate my post-mommy boobs.

  18. Dreams about houses relate to the self. So I can see how the third floor would relate to premonitions, or the third eye. I don't have recurring dreams, but I have clear recurring themes: haunted houses and battling ghosts/monsters. I know that I'm dreaming, so I'm not scared, but I would love a sweet nothing dream once in a while!

  19. Never had a third-floor dream myself -- didn't even know that was a thing -- but I guess it makes sense since I don't have any psychic abilities. I do get occasional premonitions, though... but I just call it deja vu.

  21. Wow that's quite a dream! Hopefully, you'll find good news on the third floor, and move onto other happy thoughts! My most common dream that feels more like a nightmare is that I'm walking into a college class for the first time, and they hand me a final exam! I know that this is probably a very common one, but it gets me everytime! Julie

Which reminds me, I have a book about dreams I need to read. mmh the only recurrent dream I can remember is one that I fall and fall, but never seem to hit the bottom. *shudder* but wake up before I anything happens.

  24. This is a very intriguing post, Lynn. Dreams fascinate me. Sometimes when I'm aware that I'm dreaming, I get a little more daring. If you ever have this dream again, and you're aware that you're dreaming, do you think you might approach the third floor and those doors differently than before?

    ReplyDelete

    1. i hope so--i don't always get to those doors, or maybe i am not remembering that part, as much, because it is very traumatic--thanks for the idea cynthia :)

Dreams that you've had over and over are so strange. I always dream about a bridge that sits right on the water. I always end up crashing or falling in.
