can't beat a good bowl of Beef Stew

my family loves when I make beef stew---whether I make it the little bit harder way or way of the mixed frozen vegetables---it's always enjoyed------

I recall when I was pregnant with my daughter Eden---I had so much nausea---I could barely look at food----one night my friend Sharon brought over her beef stew---it was so good---I think I ate 3 bowls!

some tips

always brown your beef first--in a bit of oil
I use brown gravy mix or the beef stew mix--the dry packs---and to thicken you can add canned or jar gravy or instant mashed potatoes----
if I am cutting up the potatoes and carrots myself---I like to add in a frozen package of the tiny pearl onions--

oh and make sure you're having a kinda relaxed in day---cause it's so much better the longer it cooks

just add your favorite biscuits(I use refrigerated grands) and maybe just a bagged salad with an interesting vinaigrette-- and while you're having comfort food pick up a refrigerated banana cream pie

  1. Oh, my, that looks enticing today! And I can use gluten free gravy or just the beef broth and thicken with mashed potatoes. That sounds like something that would be good today. It's gray and cold out. Let me go check my cupboards and freezer!

  3. We had beef stew just the other night. Yummers. If this weather never changes it may stay on the menu until June.

  5. Sounds like a chill menu, slow cooked beef stew, biscuits, salad and a cream pie. Simple is the best.

  7. LOVE beef stew. I have also added a 1/2 c of red wine (merlot is best) and prunes. Gives it a nice sweet taste.

Today was a great day for beef stew... had I thought of it this morning. But I didn't, so I went with a giant bowl of mashed potatoes instead. :)

  9. This looks good :) My mom would always brown her stew meat before she made stew. I saw on someone else's blog a little back about a stew made in the crockpot. I tried it one time. It was so easy to put all the ingredients in, without browning, cook it for 8-9 hours, delicious!

I have been enjoying reading your daughter's blog; it took me several weeks (slow here) to put together she was your daughter. I am sad for the circumstances that recently happened in her/hubby's life but I trust God.....no matter how it doesn't make sense........
