Love like you were dying

#AtoZChallenge 2019 Tenth Anniversary badge
For most of us -- we would definitely love like we were dying if we knew death was soon

But of course we don't know- and well it could be

I know it's not possible or at least not practical to think that way or for sure love that way

But what if we did

We would spend that day together- take that trip as a family

Write that note to that person that doesn't text
 better yet call them

We might really look into that loved one's face and dare to make eye contact- stopping to sit down and listen as they chatted away

What if we gave away the things people wanted now instead of saving them until we were gone or they no longer wanted them

And the list goes on and nothing I have said is new -- but how we can live each day like we aren't dying is the real mystery and why we would love differently if we were is the greater question

  1. I've recently lost two family members and what you write is true. Love like you, or the people you love, might leave you any day. Because they might.

  3. Our family lost a second cousin this week; 42 years old; certainly not expected. One of my nieces wrote on Facebook about appreciating and loving those we love while we have the chance to. We just never know from day to day who will be there at the end of the day. So just got to love them no matter what.

  4. So true. I watched loved ones die over an extended period but not really very coherent or even conscious. It would be nice to be able to plan that kind of day like you describe. I've been slowly getting rid of stuff but mostly through trash or Goodwill. None of my daughters seem very interested in having my stuff. I guess they have their own stuff to figure out what to do with.

  5. Beautiful post. We really should make each day count – both for ourselves and the ones we love.

  6. Great post! I've started telling people how much I appreciate them by sending notes more often. I so often think of doing things, but never get around to it! And James Taylor.. that's one of my favorite songs of his. Such a good message. Funny how it brings me right back to my college days when I was living in a dorm and homesick.
